Color of the Month – Emerald

emerald

Happy June, darlings! Summer is here and what better way to usher in summer than with this months color, Emerald. What a beautiful and under used royal color! There’s something soo exquisite about this color and it pains me to see it soo under used. Never the less, I am here to reintroduce and usher this color into your home.

Wine & Style – Prosecco

image
Prosecco is a sparkling wine made in Italy, near Venice. It’s made from Glera, or Prosecco, grapes. Honestly, prosecco is simply a cheaper version of champagne. So if you have champage tastes, but beer money…prosecco is the way to go, the average bottle costs about $12…sure does beat spending $40+ on champage.

Gender friendly style – Black & White

Decor and style isn’t just for women, men like it too. I’m often contacted by guys who want to make their space stylish, yet masculine without being harsh or overly feminine. So I’ve decided to create a series of “gender friendly” design sets that both men and women will like.
Up first is this lovely black and white themed living room. Black and white is such a  classic look, that anyone can pull it off. Here are some tips towards creating your gender friendly space:

1. Start with a color that will work well with other colors and serve as your background to build on.
2. Next, understand that opposites attract, if your room is a masculine one (dark floors, dark walls, cement walls) soften it up a bit with vases, mirrors, flowers, & light fixtures.
3. Finally, try mixing and matching textures and patterns. If you have a concrete floor, add a fluffy rug to soften the area. If you have smooth leather chairs, throw a nice pillow on them to add a bit of style to the room.

Wine & Style – Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir is one of the most coveted red wines in the world…heck there’s even a song about it (Well not really, but really.). Pinot Noir is native to the Burgundy region of France and also known as Red Burgundy. One reason Pinot Noir is so coveted is because it’s grapes are really hard to grow, resulting in great bottles of Pinot being hard to find outside of France. Pinot has the aroma and flavor notes of cherries, raspberries, cranberries, mushrooms, & an earthy taste. Your Pinot should be light red in color, with a light body flavor. Since this wine is highly coveted be ready to pay at the least $20 for a good bottle.

Coffee Table Alternatives

Untitled #4
Oh how I LOVE alternative decorating, ordinary is soo boring! You don’t always have to go with the traditional styling for a coffee table. Try something less expected like a vintage trunk, an upholstered bench,  garden stools, African drums, or a knitted/square pouf (both happen to be coming to domesticDEEVAH this fall). The possibilities are endless, so have fun with it darling!

Be sure to drop us an email with what you come up with to be featured.

Color of the Month – Cobalt Blue

This month’s color goes to Cobalt Blue. Growing up I was never a fan of blue, it was always a boy’s color, never mind the fact that I wasn’t a fan of pink either, but I am totally here for this bright and vibrant blue. Try adding it to your living room for a great eye catching splash of color. Cobalt Blue wine glasses anyone?
